Values that Define My Practice

Through the practice of my values, I live into my value.

  1. Responsiveness
The day I realized I was responsive rather than being 'excessively detailed', I saw my real value. In valuing responsiveness I can be flexible. I find freedom and can meet my own needs.
  2. Integrity
Integrity is my highest value. To stand from the 'wholeness of my character' connects and grounds me to what I know to be true. This is where I start.
  3. Courage
I was given the nickname "Braveheart" from my first Coach Glennie. It's the courage of one's convictions, to act in accordance with one's beliefs, especially in spite of criticism.
  4. Playfulness
Being playful helps me to stay creative and come back to the easiness of life. In practicing playfulness, I find the space to let go, be present and have fun!

Leadership Approach

Kristina holds a values-based leadership approach and uses integrated models based on the work of Scoullers (2011) Three Levels of Leadership.  Designed as a practical tool for developing a person’s leadership presence, knowhow and skill, it aims to summarize what leaders have to do, not only to bring leadership to their group or organization, but also to develop themselves technically and psychologically as leaders.
Her coaching methodology is derived and not limited to Transformative Learning Theory. TLT holds that real learning goes beyond the acquisition of content knowledge. Instead, it is a transformation of perspective. Often transformative learning requires a learning experience that contradicts an accepted truth. In many ways, it is the unlearning of experience.

Through her extensive study and practice, she has equipped herself to draw from several coaching methodologies based on her clients' needs including:

  • Adult learning theory
  • Transformative Learning Theory
  • Mezirow’s six core elements of transformation theory
  • Co-Active Coaching
  • Deep Transformational Coaching
  • The Adler Model
  • 360 Leadership Circle Profile
  • Leadership Culture Survey

Only a handful of Canadians have completed a Master's Degree specializing in Coaching. The 4-year Master of Adult Education at St. Francis Xavier University is unique in its approach to higher education, where students can choose an area of research, study and practice specific to their higher education inquiry.

Kristina completed a robust 4-year research Masters in Adult Education, specializing in transformative learning and coaching. From 2010-2014, Kristina completed over 4000 hours of study and practice. During this period, she was required to be non-partisan to anyone coaching methodology or school of thought (there are approximately 325 world-wide).

Distinguished Achievements
Kristina’s research study, "Transformative Learning Theory and Coaching: Application in Practice", was presented at the 10th Annual Coaching & Mentorship Research Conference at Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom. It was later published in the International Journal of Evidence-based Coaching and Mentoring (June 2014).
